A Panel of Real Estate Influencers and PR Reps Urge: Don’t Bring Politics Into It! – Key Points and Witty Insights

A Panel of Real Estate Influencers and PR Reps Urge: Don’t Bring Politics Into It!

Key Points – Captured in Bullets with a Blend of Wit and Wisdom

– A panel of real estate influencers and PR reps, having apparently been kidnapped by common sense, told the attendees at the ICNY (Inman Connect New York) event that, surprise surprise, they are their own brand. As in, ‘Psst! You represent your own reputation.’

– Adding to the rocket-science level of observations, they casually reminded the participants that the cameras, much like Santa Claus or an over-jealous spouse, are always watching. So, better behave!

– But the crepe de la crème, former taboos, now supposedly breathing sage advice, was the downright shocking revelation that in an election year, whatever you do, avoid taking about politics! Who would have thought?

– A layman could sarcastically quip, “Duh! You don’t say!”, but these mavens phrased this obvious yet overlooked point like a pithy proverbial punch.

– The entire panel seemed to agree on the dangerous path of mixing business with politics, masterfully coloring the path with metaphorical landmines, reserved for only the bravest (or most foolish) of realtors to tread.

The Witty Wally’s Hot Take

When listening to panels as such, one might think they have stumbled upon a sacred gathering of the Real Estate Oracle, freely dispensing gemstones of clarity. Let me break it down to you – these are just normal things amplified by the echo-chamber of a corporate event, but hey, I’m not complaining, news is news!

In “novel” advice that most of us learn from an episode of a ’90s sitcom – ‘Your actions represent your brand’ – we unearth the shocking truth that we, mortals, are indeed accountable for our actions in public or, *gasp*, on camera. Who knew that the ten-year-old still picking his nose in public would one day grow up and still…well, pick his nose in public – gotta stay true to your brand right?

In another startling revelation, we learn that talking politics in business, especially real estate, can be a slippery slope. You thought your friend blocking you on Facebook for your political views was bad? Try losing a property deal over it! In other words, folks, you should treat your political affiliations as an embarrassing medical condition. It exists, but nobody else needs to know about it.

In the grand architectural design of the universe, this panel discussion might not uplift anybody’s IQ, yet, in the chaotic, daily grind of the real estate realm, these tidbits qualify as the ‘E=mc²’ of the trade. So, keep those nostrils clean, tongues in check, and enjoy the uncontroversial monotone ride through the world of real estate!
