• According to the latest Inman Intel Index, it seems like most real estate agents decided to “keep calm and carry on” during the tumultuous times of last year. Looks like pandemic or no pandemic, these folks are harder to stir than an old-fashioned English trifle.
• Deciphering this mysterious Intel Index – which sounds more like a top secret government codename than a real estate trend report – apparently reveals that the agents might be considering a job change in 2024. I’m telling you, these agents have more mood swings than a pendulum clock.
• The factors that might cause this career flip-flop include higher commissions – shocker, not. Other factors are better technology platforms and more brokerage support. In other words, these folks want more money, better toys, and a good shoulder to cry on. Fair enough, we all have our wishlists.

Well, looks like our brave real estate warriors have had enough of playing it safe, and are gearing up for a possible Great Migration in 2024. Now this could be to chase gorgeous green pastures of higher commissions, or lure of high-tech playthings that make selling houses feel more like playing a video game. Or perhaps, they’re just craving for more company love – aren’t we all?
Put on your seatbelts, folks, we could be in for a rollicking round of musical chairs in the real estate world. So let’s all agree to regroup in 2024 and open up the suspense-laden envelope of the future. Although if agents would rather stay put for another year, that’s fine too – you do you, agents. Whatever happens, let’s just hope the real estate market doesn’t turn into a grand game of Twister – because nobody wants to see that.
So until 2024, just keep shuffling those houses – or don’t. In the immortal words of that doll-voiced diva, Dolly Parton – if your house is not selling, it might be time to Change it up, because after all, “If you don’t like the road you’re walking, start paving another one.” And if all else fails, there’s always the option of hibernating until next year. But hey, no pressure.
