Vacasa Partners with Matterport to Bring Virtual Tours of Vacation Homes

Vacasa Books a Multi-Year Contract with Matterport: VR, Get Your Bags Ready!

Matterport to Build Virtual Tours:

Enabling every armchair traveller (and an actual one) to virtually explore Vacasa’s vacation homes, Matterport will churn out digital twins.

Vacasa Broadens Marketing Techniques:

Not content with vibrant photos and enchanting descriptions? Vacasa is stepping up its game by providing interactive, 3D experiences of every barn, yacht, and posh apartment in its portfolio.

Global Rollout of Virtual Tours:

For those with a tendency to get lost in translation, the platform’s 3D models will be available around the globe. No word yet on if your digital avatar will get digital jetlag.

Matterport’s Intelligence:

These aren’t your low-res pixelated video games. Matterport Intelligent Object Recognition will identify and tag furniture and decorations, giving viewers a detailed overview of each property.

Doubled Increase in Bookings:

People love snooping around virtual homes. So much so, the usage of the 3D tours can lead to a whopping doubled increase in reservations. They say it’s all in the perspective, but it seems, in this case, it’s all in the virtual tour.

‘And Now for the Hot Take’

Imagine going on vacation without leaving your couch. How cool would that be? Not to mention the convenience and potential to save a fortune in airfare and sunscreen. Combine that with the rapidly advancing technology of Matterport, and we come very close to achieving this.

Now, Vacasa is doing something even better – letting you virtually explore their vacation homes so you can choose your online dream abode. Who says property browsing needs to be boring? Don your VR headset and pretend you’re Indiana Jones, exploring homes instead of ancient temples.

Matterport is effectively becoming the “Google Street View” for indoor spaces, with an added helping of sass. Their intelligence is not just your average defined polygons, but singing, dancing 3D models. Alright, maybe not singing and dancing, but really smart nonetheless.

Vacasa is betting on this disruptive technology in hope that, virtual walkthroughs will turn curious clicks into real bookings. Quite literally, they’re banking on you getting so engrossed; you book a trip to escape from your escape. Talk about a paradoxical holiday!

So there we have it. What sounds like a mad scientist’s experiment is actually a clever merger between technology and hospitality. You can almost imagine the Matterport guys showing up at a Vacasa property, scanning it, and then uploading that digital twin for us internet dwellers to fawn over. Then you’ll know what it feels like to have your cake and eat it too, digitally!

So pack your virtual bags, travellers. It’s going to be one heck of a ride!
